Judging People without really knowing them? It is DUMB!!

Don’t you hate when somebody makes conclusions about you before knowing you?
I am facing that right now as I write and what is surprising is that “I REALLY CARE”. I am asking myself WHY?
Normally when I face this I try to “rub it off” and try not to make a big deal of it. However, when somebody makes it obvious, then I want that person to tell me right on my face what I am doing wrong. I am not perfect, like Mary Poppins, although very close
As silly as it might sound, I am having trouble concentrating in my home business. I sell top rated vitamins from a company called USANA Health Sciences. I have my routine every morning of calling my customers and check my advertisements, etc. It bothers me because I like to know if it is me, so I can correct the problem. I am a problem fixer by nature, so it is hard to ignore this kind of things.
Maybe it is what it is and I shouldn’t try to analyze it that much. And maybe I should accept that no matter what I do or don’t do, not everybody is going to “accept me”.
Oh well!!!

Ladies: Don’t Pretend You don’t know this! When it comes to Breast Cancer, early detection can save your life!!!

Yesterday I saw a friend who I haven’t seen for a while. She knows about my Breast Cancer and she asked me how I was doing. I told her that I was doing great and that I had one more surgery to go.
I continued telling her how grateful and lucky I am. She asked me how I found out about my Breast Cancer, and I told her that I did not feel a lump, it was detected through the yearly mammogram. I was shocked when she told me that she hasn’t had a mammogram in years!!!!!
I told her, “Are you crazy?” Haven’t you paid attention to my story?
For all of you who are reading this, I urge you to get your mammogram as soon as possible. It SAVED MY LIFE! Don’t even allow the thought that it can’t never happen to you!! Life is too precious!! I don’t smoke, eat healthy, workout and cannot remember the last time I had a drink!! I am a real person and so is my story.
If I chose to “postponed” my mammogram for the following year (something that I was so close to do and I am so grateful I didn’t), this story would have a totally different ending.
Early detection can save your life! Don’t gamble with yours!!!

The cup is half full or half empty?

I like to stay motivated and listen to different speakers as part of my personal and home business development routine. I’ve listening to a motivational CD for a while and one of the things that stayed with me was concept of being “too positive”. I understood that we need to learn from the good experiences as well as from the negative experiences. He expressed that it is normal to feel sad or down when things are not going well, that these are human emotions and they are natural. What is unnatural is when undergoing any crisis to pretend that everything is “all right” and say “I am a positive person”.
I consider myself a positive person (in general). I try to see that the cup is half full and not half empty. So I was a bit confused with this concept . But when explained I really understood it. In order to achieve great things and to get wisdom, we need to learn from the good things that we experience. But when confronting something negative, we need to go through it and more importantly learn from it. So you can be positive, but don’t have to put a face. If something is negative, negative it is. You can learn from the good but also from the bad. If life give you lemons, then make lemon juice, just don’t pretend that you did not get lemons to begin with!!!!
He even said that we should pay close attention and learn from those who succeed, and when meeting somebody who “messed up”, write down everything they did wrong, so you don’t do it. I have to say that was one of the funniest things I’ve heard!!!

Yes, I made a burlap bag :)

I was bored last night. I went to the basement and started to look at the burlap fabrics. I started thinking on what to do with it. I did not have enough for the valances needed in the back porch. I got the idea to make some bags. I got the idea from a craft fair. It is mainly a rectangle sown at 3 sides. I used the big eyelets and then used twine (double or triple stranded) to make the handles. The original one I use it to carry my stuff to work: food, magazines, crochet, etc. They can be used for shopping or even the beach!!

I’ve been more conscientious about the environment and recycling. I recently bought different bags that I use for my supermarket shoppings. It was hard for me to remember them in the beginning, but now I am getting better at it.

That is one of the reasons why I like to work from home. I have time to be creative and make my contributions to save the planet!!!
We can all contribute in one way or another, we just have to make a little effort.

It is amazing! The simple things in life are so rewarding.
I decided to start one of my projects today since my son is here with us (college vacation). My husband bought me an arbor and 25 shrubs to plant along the opposite edge where the arbor will be installed and some other right in front of one of my neighbor’s hideous fence
My husband hurt his back 2 days ago, and he is in pain as I write. He is taking some Tylenol with codeine that the doctor prescribed him. So, I don’t have his help, since he needs to rest.
My son and I started around 10:00 this morning. We decided to take baby steps. So we tackle the shrubs in front of my neighbors ugly fence. We planted 13 shrubs, it was really a workout. Between the digging carrying and pulling. However, right at the end (around 2:00) we felt so good and proud.
My husband on the other hand was resting in bed and taking care of the home-businesses. That is the advantage of working from home. You can still work and earn money.
It is sad sometimes to see people struggling financially. And I understand, it is a scary thing to do. But it is doable!!!

It is Sunday morning, and I am so sad seeing my husband in pain. It turns out that he lifted few bags of heavy soil and felt pain in the lower back that spread around his waist. He is taking Aleve until tomorrow when he will see his doctor.
Thank goodness our son is here (summer vacation), so he can help me with some gardening work. I want to plant some shrubs, okay, about 25 of them . So his help is really appreciated!!
I am so grateful for the home business opportunity.
When we first started (about 2 years ago), we were not sure if this was going to work out. We were not confident and did not have the skills. I am so glad we stuck with it. I am not going to minimize the risks. Most people in the internet marketing business give up within months. It takes patience, creativity and most of all, you have to get out of your comfort zone. Believe me, that was the hardest!!

I am BRCA 2+, what about my kids!!!

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last December and in early February I found out that I was BRAC 2+. Contrary to most people, I was somehow relieved. I am 42 years old and I exercise, eat right , don’t smoke and cannot remember the last time I had a drink. So when the news came about my cancer I started to wonder about the why and how. Knowing that I carried the mutation that made me more “prone” to get breast cancer or ovarian cancer made me feel at least at ease. It wasn’t something I ate or drank, it was a genetic problem.
My cancer luckily was stage 1. I did not need chemotherapy. However when I had the lumpectomy, one of the margins wasn’t clear, so another surgery was recommended with radiation. Right about the same time I got the results from the lumpectomy, I got the results of the genetic test. I knew it wouldn’t be an easy road, but after talking to the genetic counselors, surgeons and reading multiple forums, I knew what I needed to do. I was positive for BRAC 2+ and I could not ignore the risks.
I opted to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructions and an oophorectomy a month apart as a preventative measure.
It is six months after my diagnosis, and only 5 weeks for my last surgery when I will get my implants. It is now when the other dilemma is sinking in my brain. I have a son (21 yrs) and a daughter(19). The chance to inherit this mutation is 50%. The genetic testing is expensive (around 3,000). I believe that insurances won’t pay until they reach 25, I am not sure. I have to further investigate because insurances have a “tendency” of finding the slightest excuse for not paying.
It is a scary thing, knowing that they might carry it. I don’t want them to suffer the way I did.
On a positive note, I had a chance to analyze my life. Cancer forced me to stop and look at the big picture.
I am very lucky to have a husband, a partner, a true friend. I am blessed to be able to relax and enjoy my home business. I sell vitamins, supplements, weight loss and skin care products from a company called USANA. I’ve been taking the “healthpak 100” for about 2 1/2 years. It really helped me recover fast. Having a home business was very helpful. I was often tired and wanted to sleep late. Something I couldn’t afford to do if I worked outside.

The different personalities of LEADS

If you are an internet marketer entrepreneur, you probably experienced the same frustrations I had when I first started this home-business. Most likely you were told to start recruiting people into your business, right? Now if you are like me, not business savvy, and from a science background how do you know what direction to go?
I started this adventure about 2 years ago and I was very excited when I started. My husband, who also have a science background decided to help me. So there we were excited but lacking a sense of where were we going and how. And to make matters worse all we heard was recruiting and the use of some companies who can generate LEADS. Now these leads can get very expensive. We started with one company, then another one, and another one. We finally decided to stop because we were not making any progress and we were broke !!!
This were kind of LEADS we got:
* The Alhzeihmer’s patient
This is the person who filled a form (obviously) with their name and phone number. When you called them, they said ” I never filled that form. I don’t know what are you talking about”
*The Pretender
This is the one you called and made an appointment to further talk about the business and when you contacted them again somebody answers and claims it is not the person I am looking for, and yet you know it is the person because you remember the voice.
*The Cheap
This is the one that before you start talking about the business opportunity, they tell you upfront that they want a business but they don’t have any money!!
And my old time favorite,
*The delusional
This is the one who gave the wrong phone number!! I guess they expected the business opportunity to arrive at their doorsteps!!!
As you can see, we had a great display of personalities in our journey and I am grateful to have the honor to experienced each one of them. After all, I learned from all of them.
I learned that I don’t need leads. I am not going to chase people. If somebody is interested, I can show them what I do. I can help finding it and how to work it. In other words, I attract people because I can help them. I can offer my help and skills that I have acquired.
I also learned that a person has to be ready to pursue a home-business. This “breed” is not common. They are adventurous and risk takers. They are out there, but it is like finding a needle in a haystack!!!
Let them find you instead.

Being in good shape before surgery

I was just thinking this morning if I would have recovered as quickly as I did if I was not in good shape when I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.

I lost about 25 pounds from July 2007-October 2007, and I was diagnosed with cancer on December. Two and half years ago I decided to have a home-business and decided to take the products. I took vitamins since then and ate healthier. I had 2 biopsies, a lumpectomy, bilateral mastectomy with an ongoing reconstruction and an oophorectomy in less than 5 months ( and the last one pending in about 2 months).

My parents came to help me for a while, thinking that I would be so weak. They were so surprised that I could move my arms and had energy. I left the hospital with only Tylenol because the other medicines were too hard on my stomach and made me sleepy all the time. And to my surprise, it was good enough. I had soup when I got back home and felt better. The most uncomfortable part of this surgery was the drainages. It was difficult to sleep, since I couldn’t sleep on my stomach and barely leaning on my side.

I do believe that my speedy recovery was due to my fitness before the surgery. So staying in shape and eating healthy helps, it is not vanity!!

Take your vitamins, it doesn’t hurt.
